Our rates include unlimited mileage from Auckland City. In addition, the following items are included in our car hire rates. This information is for general guidance only since many items may depend on the specific vehicle type you wish to hire in New Zealand.
All required car hire insurances
All required car hire insurances like 3rd party responsibility, CDW (Collision Damage Waiver), TW (Theft Waiver) and Bail Bond (where applicable) are included in our car hire rates. The vehicle's car hire insurance is subject to an insurance excess value : When you collect the car hire at Auckland City, you'll be asked to leave a credit card deposit to the value of the car hire excess : (Depending on the type of car you select) between NZD 1688.00 and NZD 2813.00. Providing you return the vehicle undamaged at the end of the car hire, this value is returned to your credit card in full. In the unlikely event that you damage the car hire vehicle, your maximum liability is limited to the car hire insurance excess value. Our car hire rates at Auckland City are fully inclusive of local sales taxes (12.50% in New Zealand).

Our car hire rates include collection of your car hire inside normal office hours at Auckland City.

Fuel is not included at Auckland City!
The fuel that you consume during your car hire is obviously not included in our our published car hire rates! On arrival at the Auckland City car hire station, you will collect the car hire vehicle with a full tank of fuel against a credit card deposit. At the end of the car hire, return the car hire vehicle with a full tank to Auckland City to get a refund.
Insurance Excess deposit.
As explained above in What's Included, the car hire vehicle's insurance at Auckland City is subject to an car hire insurance excess deposit (depending on the type of car hire vehicle you select) between NZD 1688.00 and NZD 2813.00. Providing you return the car hire vehicle undamaged, this value is refunded to your credit card in full. In the unlikely event that you damage the car hire vehicle, your maximum liability is limited to the deposit paid.

Lost car hire vehicle keys.
Vehicle keys are chip-coded and are costly and timely items to replace. If you lose the car hire vehicle's key, you will be obliged to pay for its replacement (approximately NZD 120.00) plus any associated transport costs in connecting you with a new vehicle key. More importantly, your holiday car hire at Auckland City may be seriously affected while you wait for a new key to be prepared for your car hire vehicle. Please take good care of the car hire vehicle key while you're on holiday in New Zealand!
Off-road or negligent use.
Our car hire vehicles at Auckland City are rented for use on the public highways of New Zealand. They cannot be used off-road. Although a very rare ocurrance, we'd like you to be aware that damage to the underside of the car hire vehicle, frequently caused by negligent driving or off-road use at Auckland City (we have had occasion to have to lift car hire vehicles out of dried-up river beds!) is your responsibility. Drunk driving a hire car is considered negligent use.
Traffic fines.
Traffic fines, speeding tickets incurred at the wheel of your car hire vehicle at Auckland City are at your own risk.
Vehicle glass & locks.
It is a sad reality that in most holiday resorts in New Zealand, auto-theft is a day-to-day ocurrance. If you park up the car hire vehicle with personal items inside and, as a consequence, the glass or locks are damaged in an attempt to steal your personal effects, you will be responsible for the associated repair costs to the car hire vehicle. We strongly recommend that you park the vehicle in supervised car parks/garages in the major cities and never leave any personal item inside the car hire vehicle.

Baby Seats
Baby seats are suitable for new-born babies until approximately 6 months of age. Baby seats are normally available on car hire vehicles from Auckland City on request. There is a charge of NZD 30.00 per rental for these seats which is payable on arrival at Auckland City. You must reserve babyseats at the same time as you reserve your car hire.
Child seats
Child seats are suitable for young children from approximately 6 months of age until 2-3 years of age. Child seats are supplied for car hire vehicles from Auckland City on request. There is a charge of NZD 30.00 per rental for these seats which is payable on arrival at Auckland City. You must reserve babyseats at the same time as you reserve your car hire.
Booster Seats
Booster seats are suitable for young children from approximately 2 years until 5 years of age. Booster seats are supplied for car hire vehicles from Auckland City on request. There is a charge of NZD 30.00 per rental for these seats which is payable on arrival at Auckland City. You must reserve babyseats at the same time as you reserve your car hire.
Additional Drivers
Additional drivers do not need to be prebooked, you can process them on arrival at the car hire station in Auckland City.
Buy-out of the Vehicle's Insurance Excess
The car hire vehicles at Auckland City are sold with an insurance excess. This is explained in the section Whats's Not Included? above.Instead of leaving a credit card deposit to cover your car hire insurance excess at Auckland City, you may opt to purchase additional insurance locally to "buy-out" the excess value - effectively removing your liability for vehicle bodywork damage. This option, depending on the car hire vehicle selected, costs between NZD 21.38 and NZD 21.38 per per day. You do not need to prebook insurance excess buy-out, simply decide and pay locally on arrival at the car hire station in Auckland City when you arrive in New Zealand.
Purchasing insurance excess buy-out is not a "licence to kill" and you will still be responsible for items like tyre, wheel, glasss or damage to the underside of the car hire vehicle. The car hire company may still require you to leave a credit card imprint to cover extensions to your car hire contract or traffic fines. See our section What's Not Included for further details.
Ski Racks
Snow Chains
Snow chains are available as an optional extra at Auckland City. Snow chains are fitted by the renter to the car where there is excesive snow/ice on the roads and only when advised to do so by the car hire company or local police. Please be aware that driving a vehicle with snow chains on normal roads (where there is no snow or ice) will quickly result in blow-outs/punctures(which you as a renter are responsible for). Unless you are familiar with the use of snow chains, we recommend that you don't order this item.
